EXCHANGE WITH THE ENVIROMENT
  1. DIFFUSION
    1. Refers to the free passage of small molecules
      1. This movement is performed from the environment, where this molecules are in a highly concentrated, to the one that has a lower concentration of molecules
    2. OSMOSIS
      1. THIS IS A SPECIAL TYPE OF FUSSION THAT CONSISTS OF THE PASSAGE OF WATER FROM TE MORE DILUTED TO THE MORE CONCENTRATED MEDIUM
      2. ACTIVE TRANSPORT
        1. This occurs when the concentration of substances is less in the exterior of the cell and the diffusion can´t take place.. if the substances are essential, the cell can incorporate them by using an active transport system that uses energy
        2. ENDOCYTOSIS
          1. When the cell needs to incorporate large particles that cannot go through the plasma membrane, the membrane collapses to encompass the particles and forms a small vesicle that is incorporated into the cytoplasm
            1. the inverse process is called exocytosis
