Absolutist Approach (Emile Durkheim)
1. Violations of a society's laws
2. Deviance is thought to be immoral, sinful and unnatural
3. If perceived as wrong in past, should presently and in the future be wrong
4. Global- violations should be considered everywhere
Statistical Approach
1. Act is not considered deviant, if there is a majority of people doing it
Normative/Objectivist Approach
1. Concentration is on the violation of the norm
2. Behaviors Underconform or Overconform
Reactivist/Subjective Approach
1. Concentrates on the reaction of the community
