Physics 2.1
Distance-Time graphs
Gradient of the line represents objects speeed
Steeper the line, faster the object
Speed=Distance/time
The speed of an object is distance in 1s
Velocity and acceleration
Velocity is speed in a given direction
If an object changes speed it changes velocity
Acceleration=final velocity-initial velocity/time
Annotations:
A=v-u t
If the value is negative they are decelerating
Velocity-time graph
The gradient represents acceleration
If line is negative object is decelerating
If the line is horizontal, acceleration=0 so steady speed
The area under the line is distance travelled
Using Graphs
Gradient on distance-time graph=speed
Gradient on velocity-time graph=acceleration
Distance travele= area under velocity-time graph
