The story is set in Athens and has five acts.
Hermia is engaged to Demetrio but is in love with Lisandro and can not marry him because her father does not accept him. Then this couple of lovers decides to escape to the forest.
the kings of the fairies have a fight, which causes the king to ask Puck for a magic liquid that serves to fall in love with the first person you see.
Seeing Demetrius and Helena fight, the fairy king orders Puck to pour the juice into the Athenian's eyes.
The goblin, however, gets confused and pours juice into the eyes of Lisandro, who falls in love with Helena.
To correct the error, Oberon pours the juice also in the eyes of Demetrio, who falls in love with the same woman.
the queen of the fairies falls in love with one of the actors, Bottom, whom Puck spelled by putting an ass head on her. Finally the drama is solved with both couples of humans already reciprocated and with the permission to marry freely.
