  1. The Roman Army
    1. The Roman Army was made up of different ranks
      1. There was 5 different parts to the Roman Army

          1. There was 5 different parts of the army
            1. Archers
              1. The Roman archers would use the normal bow and would travel by foot
                1. They started to use mounted archery once that came into conflict with Eastern European countries
              2. Cavalry
                1. The Roman Cavalry would ride horses and their weapon was a sword
                2. Commanders
                  1. Commanders would be in charge of the Roman Army
                  2. Reserves
                    1. The Roman Reserves would replace people who had died in battle or if they had gotten a promotion
                    2. Infantry
                      1. Auxiliaries
                        1. The Auxiliaries were people that were non-Roman citizens
                      2. The Army was divided into legionaries of 4000 men
                        1. Only Roman citizens could become legionnaires
                          1. Non-citizens could join a reserve force called “auxiliaries”
                        2. The Roman Empire invaded a lot of countries in Europe
                          1. These are the countries that they invaded: Hispania Germania Gaúl
                            1. The way that the Roman Empire was so stretched, this is what led to its downfall as it couldn’t control all the areas that they had conquered
                          2. Money
                            1. They got money from invading other countries
                              1. They lost money from overspending when in war
                              2. The Barbarians
                                1. The Germanic tribes over through the Romans with help from the Barbarians
                                  1. The Roman Empire got attacked by the Barbarians leading to the Fall of the Roman Empire
                                    1. The Barbarians helped Germania to take back their country and in the end Germania helped them end the Roman Empire
                                    2. Economic failures on slave Labour.
                                      1. They had trouble paying workers as they were overspending on the war that they were in
                                        1. Rome had mostly relied on Slave Labour until then, but with the economy crumbling, Rome’s slaves had stopped working
                                        2. Religion
                                          1. The Christian Religion rose because of the loss of Roman traditions and the decline of Rome itself
                                            1. They believed in many Gods
                                              1. Every God gave something to them
                                                1. Mercury

                                                2. Location
                                                  1. Their location was key to their success as Rome is in the middle of Europe so it was easy to take over countries close to it
                                                  2. Fights within the Roman Empire
                                                    1. The main reason was that the Emperor didn’t like the Senate or the Senate didn’t like the Emperor. This was seen quite usually when an Emperor was appointed.
                                                      1. Circus Maximus
                                                        1. The Circus Maximus made Romans hate each other as it was a very competitive sport
                                                        2. The Colosseum
                                                          1. The Colosseum was a negative as it taught Romans to fight but it also taught them to start a rebellion
                                                        3. The Rise of the Byzantium Empire
                                                          1. The Byzantium Empire sent the Barbarian troops coming from the East straight into the West of Rome
                                                          2. Economic failures on slave Labour
                                                            1. The Rise of the Roman Empire was in 27 BC
