  1. Worshipped by all classes
  2. One family was the shogunate
  3. Ruled and kept Japan in order
  4. Fought for supreme power

Tokugawa Shogunate
1. Was the winner after warring states
2. Proclaimed Shogun in 1603 CE
3. Had more power than the emperor
4. Restricted amount of Samurai a Daiymo could have
  1. So he didn't get overthrown
5. Peasants couldn't become anything else other than peasants
6. Peasants were not permitted to own any weapon
  1. To prevent an uprising
7. Got rid of all contact with the outside world
8. Ruled in Edo (Tokyo)
