                1. The women in this dystopian society have a set role which they have to fulfil, there set roles are chosen by whether they can have children or not and if they have a husband who is in authority
                  1. The women are then forced to wear their colour coded uniform to represent their roles in the society. The women have lost all their identity and character from having to wear this uniform. They loose all rights to express themselves, and how they want to represent themselves to other people.
                2. Their names
                  1. As soon as the handmaids are set into their house to work for their commander they instantly loose their name. Offred, Ofglen and Ofwarren are all example of how the handmaids loose their names and are then defined by their role and take their commanders names. As Offred's commander is called Fred she takes up 'Of' as they are assigned to him until her role is fulfilled, and then the commanders name 'Fred' to show how she is forced to be his handmaid and has no way of changing that.

                              1. Very few people can truly read the bible, even though everyone 'Supports' the religion and 'follows' it.
                                1. Could be used as a form of rebellion, the very own founding principals which make up Gilead can be the very things that can bring it down
                                  1. Their own religion is not taken into count they must follow this movement and must believe in God
                                  2. Way of life
                                    1. The women have their own jobs to follow and abide by in the society, they must carry out their roles and must provide for the family.

                                        1. They must buy the shopping in their pairs and must provide a baby with the commander for him and his wife.

                                          1. They must cook, clean and other general things to make the house a nice place to live in.
