The Orinoco Basin is a geographic region of Colombia determined by the Orinoco river basin, and to locate in the eastern part of the country is also known as the Llanos Orientales. It is an ecosystem that is characterized by being a plain. The region lies between the rivers Arauca, Guaviare, Orinoco and Piedmont plains.

1.1 It is a region of intense livestock activity where there were major struggles during the era of the Colombian and Venezuelan Independence. Culturally it is inhabited by the lone ranger, individual common also to the Venezuelan Llanos.

2.1 The llanera colombian subculture is the dominant in the region and features well distinguishable. The lone ranger is worker, dedicated to the raising of cattle
