   1. The Arms Race

      Annotations:

      • -Few decades before the war most large countries started to build their militaries -Britain had to have a huge military because they had colonies in 1/4 of the world and needed to be protected. They had the largest army for a long time -Germany started to build their army as well. -Both countries competed in the number of ships they had. -then Britain produced the HMS Dreadnought which made all other ships look bad. -Although it was costing each country tons to keep making ships no agreememnt was made, instead britain said they would make two ships for every one of germany.
