Working Memory Model Strengths and Weaknesses.
  1. Strengths
    1. Is supported by considerable experimental evidence.
      1. It explains a lot more than the multi-store model and makes sense of a range of tasks.
        1. Applies to real life tasks such as reading, problem solving and navigation.
          1. KF case study. Although he had a verbal information impairment after the crash, his visual information was largely unaffected.
            1. Supported by dual task studies (Baddeley and Hitch)
              1. Doesn't overemphasize the importance of rehersal.
              2. Weaknesses
                1. Visuo-spatial sketchpad implies all spatial information was first visual even though blind people have excelent spatial awareness.
                  1. Little direct evidence as to how the central executive works and what it does. Its capacity hasn't even been measured.
                    1. Not a comprehensive model of memory and only involves STM.
                      1. Does not explain changes in processing ability that occur as a result of practice/time.
