Inquiry-Based Learning
1 "Inquiry" is defined as "a seeking for truth, information, or knowledge - seeking information by questioning."
2 It starts by posing questions, problems or scenarios.
3 The process is often assisted by a facilitator (Teacher).
4 Inquirers (students) will identify and research issues and questions to develop their knowledge or solutions.
5 Inquiry-based learning includes problem-based learning, and is generally used in small scale investigations and projects, as well as research.
6 Specific learning processes that people engage in during inquiry-learning include:
6.1 Creating an argument and justification for the explanation.
6.2 Explaining the evidence collected.
6.3 Obtaining supporting evidence to answer the question(s)
6.4 Connecting the explanation to the knowledge obtained from the investigative process.
6.5 Creating questions of their own.
7 Inquiry-based learning can be done in multiple formats, including:
