          1. In different parts of the country there's more available - dictates what building materials people used.
            1. Quarrying
              1. ADVANTAGES- It is a valuable natural resource, makes glass and concrete - creates employment- cost is low unlike stone.
                1. DISADVANTAGES - creates noise and visual pollution - creates traffic, slow people down - effect tourism.
                2. Limestone reacts with carbon dioxide which dissovles in rain water to make acid rain. Due to the increase in fossil fuels rain is becoming more acidic.
                  1. Concrete is easily shaped, which means you can use it for a variety of different jobs eg. building high rise buildings
                3. Limestone is mainly calcuim carbonate - CaCO3
                  1. THERMAL DECOMPOSITION - Depending on where the metal is on the reactivity series will dictate how much energy/heat is use to decompose it. High - needs lots of energy. Low - need less energy
                    1. Calcium carbonate ----heat----> calcium oxide + carbon dioxide Ca3 ---heat--> CaO +CO2
                      1. Copper carbonate ----heat----> copper oxide + carbon dioxide CuC03 ---HEAT---> CuO + CO2
                        1. Colour change - yellow when hot, white when cold
                        2. Making calcium Hydroxide
                          1. water reacts to with calcium oxide, to produce calcium hydroxide ( which is an alkali, can be used to neutralise acids )
