METALS
most of the periodic table is made up of metals.
all metals are found on the left hand side of the periodic table.
alkali are the most active metals.
they are shiny solids (except mercury which is a shiny liquid)
have high melting points and densities
most have large atomic radius
low ionisation energy
electrons in the valence shell are easily removed
NON-METALS
have high ionizing energy
generally poor conducters
solid non-metals are usually brittle
solid non-metals usually have little or non-metallic luster
