Pros
1. Beliefs
  1. Some people though that slavery made the Africans happy
  2. Slave owners thought the slaves like cattle , meaning Whites' were superior to them
  3. Some people thought White's were like children and needed to be told what to do, or thought they were lazy and would not do anything without Whites telling them what to do
2. Economy
  1. The sugar trade made 2o million pounds per year, so sugar and cotton traders got rich
    1. Slaves worked on plantations, since they did not have wages, their owners would become very rich
  2. Slavery was not against the law
3. Religeon
  1. The bible talks about slavery so people thought it was okay
  2. Apparently, God agreed with slavery so it was okay
Cons
1. Treatment
  1. Families could be split apart
  2. Slaves were branded and had their ears cut when being sold
  3. Slaves could be punished by being whipped, boiled or beaten
