Extreme Tourism: Antarctica
- Why is Antarctica extreme?
- Antarctica is located
around the South
pole, so you can't
really get anymore
extreme than that!
It's bloody cold!
- Antarctica is a continent. It has
an area of 5 million square miles.
That's one and a half times the
size of the USA!
- No one had lived
there at all until
1897. Hardly
anyone lives there
no either, except
scientists.
- The temperature is usually
bellow freezing.
Temperatures have been
recorded on an island to be
-60 degrees. And on the
coast, the temperatures can
sink to -30 degrees.
- Antarctica is located
around the South
pole, so you can't
really get anymore
extreme than that!
