    1. This is the first thing a report needs. ~say what the study is about & include the IV & DV
    2. ABSTRACT
      1. =Overview/concise summary of whole report, to enable reader to decide whether to read on (if its relevant to them)
      2. INTRODUCTION
        1. =Provides the context for the study, describing existing theories & studies in the field. Ends with aims & hypotheses
          1. Aims & Hypotheses
            1. aim=purpose of study. hypothesis =what is actually going to be tested, should include IV & DV
        2. METHOD
          1. =description of the sample, the procedure & materials (e.g. questionnaire)
            1. Design of investigation= research method/ research design/ control of variables & order effects/ how word-lists or questionnaires were chosen /how ethical issues were dealt with
              1. Procedure used= ~step-by-step account of what happened, ~how the researcher & investigation were introduced, ~how informed consent was obtained, ~what was said to participants, how study was carried out, how participants were debriefed ~how data was recorded
                1. Use of participants= number, demographics, sampling method used, & how participants were allocated to conditions
                  1. Resources used= materials ~pic ~questionnaire ~word list. =apparatus ~diagrams or pics of them
                2. RESULTS
                  1. =descriptive statistics ~graphs ~mean, range/standard deviation & inferential statistics (chi square).
                  2. DISCUSSION
                    1. =concludes upon findings in relation to the hypotheses, as well as the existing theories & studies.
                      1. ~Also provides evaluation, with suggestions for future research or real world application
                    2. REFERENCES
                      1. list of all the books, articles & websites that have been used for info during the study = see where info on research & theories came from. ~alphabetical order.
                      2. APPENDICES
                        1. e.g. blank copy of questionnaire, consent form, raw data etc
                        2. Sampling
                          1. Random =everyone in the target population has an equal change of being selected ~fair ~representative
                            1. Systematic =taking every nth name from a sampling frame ~isn't truly random or representative
                              1. Opportunity =whoever is available at the time ~easy &cheap ~not representative
                                1. Volunteer/ self-selecting =participants volunteer ~save time ~large sample ~not representative
                                  1. Stratified =important subgroups in a population identified, proportionate number randomly allocated ~take time &money ~fairly representative
