Vectors
  1. Scale Diagram
    1. Join all forces together in a polygon
      1. The line to finish the shape is the resultant
        1. Add arrows showing the direction of the force
        2. Parallelogram of Forces
          1. Only used with two forces
            1. Make polygon using the forces as sides
              1. Draw a line through the middle, which is the resultant
              2. Vectors at Right Angles
                1. Use Pythagoras to find resultant
                2. Vector = physical quantity with direction and magnitude e.g. displacement, velocity
                  1. Scalar = physical quantity that is not directional e.g. mass, energy
                  2. Resolving Forces
                    1. Split one vector into two (diagonal into horizontal and vertical
                      1. Represented as Fv and Fh
                        1. The point of this:
                          1. Vertical forces have no effect horizontally
                            1. Horizontal forces have no effect vertically
                              1. Can consider them seperately if split
                            2. Objects on a Slope
                              1. Split the same way if on a slope
                                1. Weight on object split into two components (parallel and perpendicular to slope)
                                  1. If object is in equilibrium
                                    1. Parallel component equals friction
                                      1. Perpendicular component equals contact force
