  2. Many other good leaders because of Promotion by Merit and the removal of less able leaders

  1. Rupert was a terrible leader
    1. Took a poodle into battle
    2. Failed to use the element of surprise at Marston Moor
    3. He led the army from the back
  2. Other commanders would not listen to eachother

  2. Less people in the areas controlled so less people in army

2. South and East had a greater population than the North and West, therefore parliament had more numbers
3. The areas where weapons were made were controlled by the parliamentarians
