Causes of World War I
  1. Nationalism
    1. Made Nationalistic countries such as Germany think they were the best and want an empire and a 'place in the sun'
      1. Links in with Imperialism and Militarism because without nationalism nationalistic countries wouldn't have wanted empires (Imperialism) and therefore wouldn't have wanted to expand their armies (Militarism)
      2. Without Nationalism there wouldn't have been so many crises' and tensions between countries because they were trying to conquer empires.
        1. For example the Moroccan revolution in 1911 when Germany attacked France through Morocco helped to cause war (because of nationalism) because it increased tensions and distrust between both countries and therefore made war more likely to spark off.
        2. Made War more likely because it increased tension within and between countries (e.g assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand 1914 and Morrocan revolution 1911) and therefore made War more likely to spark off.
          1. In countries with many different nationalistic races it increased tensions between different nationalistic groups and this not only caused unrest within the country and made civil War more likely but it also meant that other neighbouring countries wanted to come in and take action and this caused and tensions and unrest and made war more likely
            1. For example in Austria-Hungary in 1914 when the Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Serbian nationalists, it caused unrest
