Women's Auxiliary Air Force - Some
women did cooking and clean. Other women
between 18 and 50 who live near docks (e.g
Portsmouth) are allowed to apply. They help
maintain the ships and helped plan D-day.

Executive - A few women
were secret agents and were
parachuted into France.
War Work
Women's Voluntary Service- The WVS members were
often older women who knitted socks and made cups
of tea for firefighter but also collected scrap metal.
Factory work - Women's pay in factories was usually
lower than mens. Some women went on strike at the
Rolls Royce factory when they found out unskilled
men were earning more than skilled women.
Personal Lives
A rise in unmarried mothers
as women were not sure if
their marriage would last.
