activists (black and white) rode on interstate buses to travel from
Washington DC through to the South, where there was the most
racial hatred

(after JFK) met with MLK to discuss the
future of black civil rights; he was
respected by government officials and
inspired many black - and white - student
activists to challenge he Supreme Court
and any Jim Crow Laws that remained
