Adjectives can have degrees of comparison. They can be in the positive, the comparative and the
superlative form.

REMEMBER: add -er:
With adjectives of 1 syllable
*adjectives that end in -e we add only -r
adjectives that end in a vowel sandwich (consonant-vowel-consonant), we double the final consonant: hot-hotter; thin-thinner
with adjectives of 2 syllables ending in -y, we change the y to i and add -er: lucky-luckier; crazy-crazier
With adjectives of 1 syllable

We form the superlative of adjectives in two ways.
ADDING -EST
With adjectives of 1 syllable: old- the oldest; wide- the widest
With adjectives of 2 syllables ending in -y, the y becomes i and we add -est

You must always use the with the superlative to talk about three or more people, animals or things.
