Golden Compass Character ListLyra BelacquaLyra is the main character of the Golden Compass, She is from Oxford England and lives at Jordan College.Lyra is the daughter of Lord Asriel and Mrs.Coulter . Lyra is 11 years old, and her Daemon is namedPantalaimon. At Jordan College, Lyra is rambunctious and always getting into trouble, but she is importantbecause she plays a huge role into the fate of mankind. Lyra is able to read the Alethiometer, and is knownto the witches as the girl who will bring about the end of destiny.Lyra is significant because She is destined to play a huge part in the fate of mankind, but she has to live her destiny without knowing that it isher destiny"Yes. Lyra has a part to play in all this, and a major one. The irony is that she must do it all without realizingwhat she's doing.
