  1. India
    1. Population: Has second largest populated country, 1.2 billion people.
      1. Geography: India can be divided into three main regions. The northern Himalayan region, which is mountainous. The Indo-Gangetic plain (agriculture region) and the Plateau region in the south and central areas. A large percentage of land is covered by three main river systems and deltas: the Indus, the Ganges and the Brahmaputra.
        1. Major Cities: The capital of India is New Delhi and is also the wealthiest city in India. Though Mumbai is actually the largest city in India, and the most populated city in India and the capital of the Maharashtra region.
        2. People
          1. Language: There are many different languages spoken in India. The most common is Hindi at 41%. Also spoken are: Bengali 8.1%, Telugu 7.2%, Marathi 7%, Tamil 5.9%, Urdu 5%, Guajarati 4.5%, Kannada 3.7%, Malayalam 3.2%, Oriya 3.2%, Punjabi 2.8%, Assamese 1.3%, Maithili 1.2% and other 5.9%.
            1. Religion: The most common religion in India is Hinduism, which is practiced by about 80% of the population. Other religions include Sikhism, Buddhism and Jainism. Religion played a large part in the forming of the caste system. The caste system is a system in India (similar to a class system) but more based around religion. It rules the social interactions a person may have and the jobs they can do. Though this was not the intention originally, your caste is decided through your birth. It causes a lot of problems as their it is unchangeable (those in poverty stay in poverty) and it is uncommon for marriage between castes, restricting economic progress.
            2. Culture
              1. Cuisine: Typical Indian food is different to the variations eaten in western countries. It is very vegetable heavy and not a lot of meat is eaten, mainly because it is too expensive. It is famous for it's use of exotic herbs and spices, vegetable dishes, breads and tandoori. These are often eaten with rice or lentils.
                1. Clothing: Traditional clothing worn by women (even during a working day) is Saris. On special occasions, these are made of expensive fabrics such as silks and accessorised with elaborate bangles and other jewellery. Men typically wear long wide shirts and trousers. Although, on special occasions they sometimes wear turbans.
                  1. Major Festivals
                    1. Diwali or the festival of light, and is celebrate at Hindu New Year. Typically fireworks, clay lamps and candles are lit to represent good over evil.
