1. History

   • The villages on the west coast consisted of small,simple huts clustered around a large multchambered tombs.
   • Neolithic people built villages of timber homes along the Atlantic coast.
   • People lived in what now France more than 100,000 years ago.
   • The idea for a very long cycling race across France came from Geo Lefevre, a writer for the sports newspaper L'Auto.
     • Sixty riders entered the 1903 Tour de France, but only 21 actually finished the race.

     • THE LAVENDER FIELDS! Everyone says that it is SO beautiful and very rare

   • As a result France has not lost as many people as other European countries.
   • French is one of the most spoken languages
