The brand is a distinctive sign that indicates that certain products or services have been made or provided by a particular person or company. Thanks to this system, consumers can identify and buy a product or service that, due to its characteristics and quality - indicated by its exclusive brand - suits their needs.
What rights does the brand confer? The protection of the trademark guarantees its owner the exclusive right to use the trademark to identify its products or services, or to authorize its use by third parties in exchange for the payment of a sum.
What kind of brands can you register? Marks can consist of a word or a combination of words, letters and figures. They can also consist of drawings, symbols, or three-dimensional signs such as the shape and packaging of products.
How do you register a brand? First, a registration application must be submitted to the corresponding national or regional trademark office.
