Classroom observation
  1. IT IS a practice that consists of frankly and closely watching a class...
    1. ...It allows observers to get info related to all the elements in a class and the way they perform
      1. It is also the means by which teachers reflect on their own teaching
        1. Sit, observe, learn and reflect
          1. IT is the process by which a teacher or observer pays attention to a lesson development.
            1. To make an evaluation of it
          2. What for?
            1. it allows teachers to get the feedback they need to adjust their classes
              1. It is done to identify the areas in which a teacher needs to work on.
                1. It gives experience and knowledge to the observer
                2. To improve teaching effectiveness
                  1. To improve education and methodology quality
                    1. To make classroom instruction better.
                    2. It is a good opportunity for observers to examine real teaching in context
                      1. To get to know new teaching methods
                      2. The use of checklists may be useful
                        1. Asking oneself questions that asses class elements
                          1. Is there a lesson plan?
                            1. Is there any kind of interaction?
                              1. Are pupils engaged?
                                1. What tools are being used? ETC...
                              2. Ethics
                                1. Objectivity
                                  1. Training in observation
                                    1. Training sessions
                                2. The observer needs a person who supervises and gives advice on the observations
                                  1. There must be guidelines for the observations
                                    1. Some questions must be asked to the teacher who will be observed
                                      1. Observations cannot be limited to 1 but at least 3
                                        1. To gather enough information and experiences
                                          1. It is better to have at least two observers per class.
                                            1. Some rules/policies may be needed concerning the observations
                                    2. Seating charts
                                      1. Field notes
                                        1. Brief descriptions of key events
                                          1. Writing narrative summaries with the main points
