  1. people dont work together because of GREED and SELF-INTEREST!!
    1. which is why civic virtue idea should be dropped; get realistic!
Republic
1. large
  1. larger number of factions
    1. no one faction can dominate the rest
      1. republic and minorities are protected!
    2. there's more faction opinions for people to chose from
2. small
  1. small # of factions
    1. more conflict
3. chosen body of wise citizens make decisions
democracy
1. the people have all the power
2. majority faction will control gov
3. turmoil over not being able to control diverse opinions
