3-Man Mechanics:
Gets game information from the head coaches starting with the home team.

3-Man Mechanics:
Instructs the timer.

3-Man Mechanics:
Has responsibility for instructing the chain crew.

3-Man Mechanics:
On kick off, hands the ball to the kicker and then goes to the sideline opposite the chains on K’s restraining line.

3-Man Mechanics:
On kickoffs, is at the goal line or, back with R’s deepest receiver in the middle of the field.

3-Man Mechanics:
Is on the restraining line of the receiving team on the kickoff.

3-Man Mechanics:
On scrimmage running plays follows the runner into the side zones and has action on/around the runner.

3-Man Mechanics:
On scrimmage play is on the line opposite the Head linesman.

3-Man Mechanics:
Has roughing the passer.

3-Man Mechanics:
Has the 40/25

3-Man Mechanics:
Takes initial position 9-10 yards in from the sideline (at the numbers). Has roughing kicker/holder on PATs.

3-Man Mechanics:
On PAT from the R-3 is just behind the upright on the side of the field away from the chains.

3-Man Mechanics:
On timeouts is at the ball.

4-Man Mechanics:
Assists the Referee in getting game information from the head coaches.

4-Man Mechanics:

On punt plays, is slightly wider and deeper, 10 – 15-yards behind the receiver’s line of scrimmage on the Line Judge’s side of the field, looking for action on the snapper, and then turning to observe blocking by the receivers.

4-Man Mechanics:
On punts, counts receivers and confirms with the LJ

4-Man Mechanics:
Determines if blocked scrimmage kick goes beyond the line.

4-Man Mechanics:
On punts is deep and toward the center of the field but to the side of the field away from the chains, slightly behind R’s deep receiver.

4-Man Mechanics:
On punts, is slightly behind the kicker on Line Judge’s side of the field.

On punt, has sideline coverage opposite the chains.

On PAT’s/field goal, if the referee’s back is to the side of the field opposite the chains, moves to a position under the goal post opposite the chains side of the field.

On PAT’s/field goal moves to the goal post opposite the flank official who is also at the goal post.

4-Man Mechanics:
On PAT’s/field goal, if the referee’s back is to the chains side of the field, moves to a position under the goal posts on the chains side of the field.

4-Man Mechanics:
On scrimmage kicks, counts the kicking team.

4-Man Mechanics:
Has roughing kicker/ holder on PATs and field goals.

4-Man Mechanics:
Has roughing snapper.

On measurements, marks the yard line for the clip, then rules on whether it is a first down or not.

On PAT’s/field goal from the 10 and in, if not facing the back of the referee, takes a position on the line of scrimmage at the sideline (move in to the numbers on PAT), and observe the neutral zone.

5-Man Mechanics:
On PAT’s/field goal from OUTSIDE the 10, moves up to normal position behind B linemen and rules on action on the center.

5-Man Mechanics:
On PAT’s/field goal from OUTSIDE the 10, if position is on the chains side of the field and is facing the back of the referee, moves from position on line, to position under goal post.

5-Man Mechanics:
On PAT’s/field goal, takes a position 10-15 yards wider than the potential kicker and 2-3 yards deeper, on the open side of the holder. Helps direct the appropriate official to be under the goal post with the back judge.

5-Man Mechanics:
On measurements, goes to the chains and assists the down box at forward stake spot.

5-Man Mechanics:
On measurements, marks the location on the yard line where the clip should be placed.

5-Man Mechanics:
On measurements, rules on whether team A has made a first down.
