Seeing an Orbi purple light on your router or satellite can be confusing, especially if your WiFi suddenly stops working. The purple (sometimes pinkish-purple) light on an Orbi device usually indicates a connection issue between the Orbi router and the internet, or between the router and its satellites. Thankfully, this issue can be fixed with a few simple steps.

What Does the Orbi Purple Light Mean?

The Orbi purple light is a status indicator that signals a problem. It typically means:

Orbi router is not connected to the internet.
Orbi satellite cannot detect the router.
Configuration issue after setup or reset.
Firmware glitch preventing proper communication.

In short, purple light means your Orbi system is on, but it is not able to provide internet access.

Quick Fixes for Orbi Purple Light

If your Orbi is showing a purple light, try the following solutions:

1. Restart Your Network Devices

Power off your modem, Orbi router, and satellite. Wait for 30 seconds, then turn them back on in this order: modem → router → satellite.

2. Check Cables and Connections

Ensure that the Ethernet cable between the modem and Orbi router is secure and not damaged. Loose or faulty cables often cause purple light issues.

3. Verify Internet Service

Connect a computer directly to the modem using an Ethernet cable. If there’s no internet, the issue is with your ISP, not Orbi.

4. Resync the Orbi Satellite

If the purple light appears on the satellite, press the Sync button on both the router and the satellite to re-establish their connection.

5. Update Orbi Firmware

Log in through the Orbi app or web interface and check for updates. Installing the latest firmware often resolves purple light problems.

6. Reset Your Orbi System

As a last resort, reset your Orbi router and satellite to factory settings and set them up again using the Orbi app.

Advanced Troubleshooting

If the purple light persists, consider these additional steps:

Change DNS settings to Google DNS (8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4).
Reconfigure the Orbi router in AP (Access Point) mode if needed.
Try relocating satellites closer to the router to improve communication.

When to Contact Orbi Support

If none of the above steps resolve the purple light issue, it may be due to a hardware fault or complex network problem. In such cases, contacting Orbi customer support is recommended for professional assistance.

Final Thoughts

An Orbi purple light usually indicates a connection problem, but it is not a permanent fault. Restarting your devices, updating firmware, or syncing satellites typically restores functionality. If the problem continues, support services can help diagnose and fix deeper issues.

With the right troubleshooting, you can quickly eliminate the purple light and enjoy uninterrupted WiFi coverage again.
