In order to create our personal mission statement, throughout the year we will use this INSPIRE Framework. The first 4 parts of the framework will guide you through developing your personal mission statement, and the last 3 will help you to actualize, or put your mission statement into action.

Let's start with I: Identify your core values. Take a look at the mind map. This map includes some prompts for you to use to identify and define your core values. Access the list of core values here: https://brenebrown.com/resources/dare-to-lead-list-of-values/ Tip: Press play on the top left corner of the slide to view the mind map animation. This image is small, but it gives you a sense for how the board, councils, and committees work together in JLW. Most importantly, it shows how expansive the opportunities for leadership and service are in the league. No matter what skill set you have or wish to grow, there is an opportunity available in the league. JLW has approximately 45 committees, each of which is represented on the Board of Directors by a Council Director or a Director-at-Large and falls within one of three primary categories of volunteer service:  Community, In-League, and Fundraising. If you’re interested in this chart, you can find this on member essentials by searching “organizational structure” or going to the JLW Blue Book portion of the site.

Take a look at this mind map for some things to consider when looking at committee placements. Do you want to work primarily with community partners, in-league, or on a fundraising committee? They all have benefits, depending on your goals and values.  If you would like to know more about the committees, you can find a list in member essentials under My League>Committees. Each committee has an overview, a list of activities, and links to the online member directory pages of the current committee leadership. If you see something you're interested in, reach out to the chair! They are always happy to talk about the work they do.  Tip: Press play on the top left corner of the slide to view the mind map animation.
