Wave energy causes the matter in the medium to move up/down or back/forth at right angles to the direction of wave travel. What are some examples of Transverse waves? Light waves and water waves. Definition of Compressional/Longitudinal waves? Matter in the medium moves back and forth in the same direction of wave travel. (parallel) Examples of Compressional/Longitudinal waves?
