1—The Micrometer is used for very fine measurements up to hundredths of a mm. each revolution of the ratchet moves the spindle .5mm. when object is trapped, the ratchet makes a 'clicking' noise and it cannot tighten any more
2—the digital calipers are another precision measurement tool. they can be used for measuring inside and outside lengths, as well as depths. they can also be converted to mm or inches
