- 13What does RAM stand for?Random Access Memory
- 14What does ROM stand for?Read Only Memory
- 15What does BIOs stand for?Basic Input Output System
- 16What is cache memory?Cache is a type of RAM, it is the fastest type of RAM which allows quick access to data. Cache memory is volatile so when it shuts down the data is lost. Cache is also closer to the main memory so it is quicker to get it. Also if it has done it before it will do it quicker than if it has never seen it before. The memory is only temporarily stored in cache before its lost.
- 17What does CPU stand for?Central Processing Unit.
- 18What is the fetch execute cycle?1. The processor fetches an instruction from the memory
2. The instruction is decoded
3. The processor executes(runs) that instruction - 19What is clock speed?Clock speed is the rate which instructions are carried out. It is measured in Hz (the number of times the clock ticks per second) Every tick 1 instruction, so 1GHz means that a thousand million instructions are carried out per second.
- 20What is dual and quad core?Dual and Quad core is when the computer has 2 or 4 CPUs.
