- 1What's one quote that Lady Macbeth says to Macbeth about killing Duncan? What does it say about her attitude and personality?"I may pour my spirits in thine ear"
This quote means she's going to give Macbeth advice on killing the king, this shows she is quite a persuasive person and likes to take charge. - 2When does Lady Macbeth 1st appear? In Act 1 Scene 5
This is where she gives her soliloquy about killing the king and her ideas about Macbeth becoming the new king. - 3What is Lady Macbeth like at the beginning compared to what she is like at the end of the play?At the beginning Lady Macbeth is ruthless and will do anything to make sure her husband becomes king. We see this right away when we first meet her in Act 1, scene 5. She receives the letter from Macbeth and immediately sees the opportunity and starts to make plans. She questions Macbeth's strength and if he's too kind to go through with the plan.
But later in Act Five, the guilt and remorse come to haunt her. She is sleep walking and muttering about the horrible act of killing Duncan. She literally goes crazy with guilt. Her comments about the blood come back in this scene where she is making a washing motion with her hands and saying "Out damn spot." - 4What quote supports the fact that Lady Macbeth is powerful and fearless at the start?"Spirits that tend on mortal thoughts" to deprive her of her feminine instinct to care. This shows she will kill/ be part of the killing and not care. This is dramatic irony because we know she will care and the guilt will haunt her forever.
