Biology (level 4)
Karten in diesem Stapel (9)
- 1SpeciationFormation of a new species
- 2Behavioral Isolationoccurs when populations have different courtship rituals or other
behaviors involved in reproduction - 3Geographical Isolationoccurs when populations are separated by geographic barriers, such
as mountains or rivers - 4Temporal Isolationoccurs when populations reproduce at different times
- 5Geographical Isolation in Galapagos FinchesThe population of finches on separate islands are geographically isolated from one another by the ocean
- 6Behavioral Isolatation in Galapagos FinchesBig-beaked finches that prefer to mate with other big-beaked finches are behaviorally isolated from small-beaked birds living on the same island.
- 7Speciation in Galapagos FinchesThe finches probably flew from mainland to 2 islands. There might have been different food on the second island, such as seeds, which caused the big beaks to be favored. Over time, natural selection happened and caused a formation of a new species.
- 8Reproductive Isolationoccurs when a population splits into two groups and the two populations no longer interbreed
- 9Biological Species ConceptReproduction is possible, offspring will survive and reproduce
