  1. 1What is a fluid?A fluid is a liquid or gas. That has no definite shape, and is free to flow
  2. 2How do fluids flow? The particles within a fluid have spaces between them allowing other particles to go through, around and above other particles. Constant movement.
  3. 3Examples of Fluids/uses.Animals use fluids for flight
    Plants use fluid for photosynthesis
    Humans use fluids for cooking
  4. 4Are there fluids in our body?Blood-used as a transport system
    Oxygen- to breath
    Stomach acid- to deconstructions food
  5. 5What is the atmosphere? It is all the air on earth
  6. 6What is the hydrosphere? It is all the water found on earth.
  7. 7What is adhesion? When particles of one fluid stick to particles of a different surface.
  8. 8What is cohesion?Cohesion is when particles of a fluid stick to particles within the same fluid.
  9. 9What is Compressibility?it is when particles are flattened, or squished.
Air is more compressible than water.
  10. 10Laminar FlowIs the smooth flow of fluids.
  11. 11Turbulent flowIs the choppy/bumpy flow of fluids.
  12. 12Why do we use a science journal? To organize data, thoughts and ideas.
  13. 13Hydrophobic Sandis 'afraid' of water. It does not get wet.
  14. 14meniscusis the little curve that appears when a fluid is in a container. It forms because the outer particles stick to the outside of the container(adhesion)
  15. 15surface tensionIs the bond that the top particles of a fluid form.
  16. 16Wetting agentHelps break the surface tension. Examples are fire retardant, and soap
  17. 17Fair testOnly one variable is changed at a time. At least one has to stay the same so the data comes out.
  18. 18HypothesisIs the guess done prior to the expirement
  19. 19ProcedureStep by step of how the experiment is done. specific.
  20. 20Manipulated variableThe changed variable
  21. 21Measured variablethe outcome we measure
  22. 22Controled variableThe variable kept the same.
  23. 23Flow rateIs the measure of how fast the fluid flows
the volume divided by the time
  24. 24ViscosityThe thickness of a fluid
  25. 25dragIt slows down an air craft normally before landing. Ailerons
  26. 26Golf ball dimplesThey have dimples so the air is stuck to the ball causing laminar flow so it goes farther and longer in the air.
  27. 27—
