  1. 1Enumerate some of the Storage problemsSlowness: databases store data on disk.
Costness: cloud platforms pay-per-use model: each access is charged.
  2. 2What are some of the issues of caching data next to the server application? The size of the cache is limited to the memory of each machine.
Distributing the load means that the same data will be cached in multiple machines.
  3. 3What are some of memached limitations? No Replication: Designed for volatile data. On Failure clients just go to disk. On recovery: Cache gets populated as consequence of the normal execution of clients.
Thundering Herds: On a cache miss, multiple clients may end up trying to set the value of a cache entry.
For a value updated very frequently, writes may be reordered and the old value get written in the cache.
  4. 4Enumerate all the alternatives for Redis persistanceNo persistence
RDB persistence: performs point-in-time snapshots of the database state at specified intervals
Append-only fashion: logs every write operation received by the server, that will be played again at server startup. Log
    compressed in background.
  5. 5What is a CDN?A content delivery network (CDN) is a distributed network of edge servers that cache contents in point-of-presence (POP)
locations that are close to end users, to minimize latency.
  6. 6What are the benefits of using a CDN?Lower latency for clients, especially for applications in which multiple round-trips are required to load content.
Large scaling to better handle instantaneous high loads, such
as the start of a product launch event.
Reduce the traffic sent to the origin server, as requests are handled by the edge servers.
  7. 7Caching RulesGlobal caching rules: caching rule that affects all requests. The global caching rule overrides any HTTP cache-directive
    headers, if set.
Custom caching rules: custom caching rules match specific paths and file extensions, are processed in order, and
override the global caching rule, if set.
Query string caching: Possible to define how to treat request with query strings.
  8. 8What is a Micro-Service?A microservice-based application scales out by deploying each service independently, creating instances of these services
across servers/virtual machines/containers. In a microservice application, different functionalities are
    separated into smaller
    services.
  9. 9What are some of the desirable properties of Micro-Services?• Consists of code, and optionally state, both of which are independently versioned, deployed, and scaled.
    • Interacts with other microservices over well-defined interfaces and protocols.
    • Has a unique name (URL) that is used to resolve their location.
    • Can be written in any programming language.
    • Should remain consistent and available in the presence of
    failures.
