   • Natural Barriers
   • Applied Barriers
     • Electroplating
       • Used for: decoration and aesthetics, e.g metals used for jewellery can be plated with pure gold and silver. Also, used to produce a protective layer e.g chromium plated on steel for car fenders.
     • Galvanising
       • Hot Dipping
         • The base metal is dipped into a molten zinc solution and ir forms quite a thick layer of zinc on the outside
       • Used for creating a protective layer around the base metal to make it more corrosion resistant, e.g. outdoor benches made from stainless steel.
     • Anodising (only used for ALUMINIUM)

   • Self-finishing
     • No applied barriers have to be added to ensure a high quality finish.
   • Self-coloured
     • Coloured pigments can be added during the manufacturing process.
   • Self-textured
     • Textures can be implemented onto the mould during the manufacturing process.
