- Scaffolding- a way to support a student in new learning.
- Self-regulation: ability to monitor and modify one's own actions as needed.
- Extrinsic: factors outside or external to a person (ie. extrinsic rewards-stickers, praise)
- Intrinsic: factors inside or internal to a person (ie. sense of pride, accomplishment, joy)

Differentiated Instruction
- Tailoring instruction to meet individual needs
- Teachers may differentiate content, process, products, or the learning environment
- Ongoing assessments as well as flexible groupings makes this a successful type of approach to instruction
- Fairness- In education, fairness does not mean that every student gets the same thing, it means that every student gets what he or she needs.
- Tailoring instruction to meet individual needs
