2. Causes

   • Children have not been properly disciplined by parents at home
   • Basic lack of respect for them selves and others. They have not been taught empathy
   • The teacher is not able to connect with the student or make learning relevant. He/She does not get the student actively engaged in the work or lessons
   • Parents do not set boundaries at home and the student feel as if rules are the same at school and home, and often they are not

3. Punishment in UK schools

   • Exclusion: The student are excluded and cannot come back to school where they have to find a new, different school
   • Suspension: The student are suspended as they cannot enter the building or attend lessons until the period of time given for suspension are over
   • Detention: The student is detained after school
   • Lines: The student have to write a sentence many times on a sheet of paper

4. How to reduce discipline problems

   • Build teachers and student relationships
   • Implement strict consequences to prevent further discipline problems
   • Build personal rapport with students
