Substances
Solution
- Liquids that have two types of substance.
Solvent
- The substance in which the solute is dissolved.
Solute
- Substance that is dissolved in a solution.
Concentration
- Amount of a substance in a defined space. Is determined by the amount of solute and the volume of solution.
Standard solutions
- Amount of concentration of an element or a substance that is precisely known.
Ppm
- Stands for parts per million. Measuring unit can be written down as milligrams per liter (mg/L).
Dilution
- Substance containing a reduced concentration of a solute in a solution. Done by mixing the solution with more solvent.
Stock solution
- Concentrated solutions of known, accurate concentrations that will get diluted for laboratory use purposes.
Voliumetric analysis
- Method of quantitative chemical analysis through which a substance gets determined by measuring the volume that’s occupied
Titration
- Reaction of a solution with an unknown concentration and a solution with a known concentration.
Pipette
- Glass tube used to move around liquids and to measure small quantities of liquid in a chemistry lab.
Conical flask
- Glass container where the base is flat and round, and a cylindrical neck.
Burette
- Tool used in chemistry to measure the volume of a liquid or a gas.
Equivalence point
- Where all the acid has been neutralized by a base,
Indicator
- When a substance gives a visible indicator that is usually a color change
End point
- Point at which titration is completed., Marked by a change in color.
