Difference between functions and relations
A function is a specific type of relationship in which each input value is matched exactly with an output value.
- A function is a special kind of relation, but it's a bit more organized. Imagine that you have a magical machine that take your clothe and paint it with special colors. But thers a problem, each clothe can only have a specific color You can't paint the same color on different clothes. That's a function It's like a rule that says everey clothe has its very own color, and no color is repeated.
A relationship is a general term that describes the relationship between two sets. It can be viewed as a collection of ordered pairs, where each ordered pair consists of an input value and its corresponding output value.
- Think of a relation like a game where you match up pairs of items from two different sets. You have a set of stuffed animals and a set of colors. You're making pairs like this: Teddy Bear - Brown, Elephant - Gray, Lion - Yellow. It's like saying, "Each stuffed animal has a color buddy!"

The vertical line test is a test in which a vertical line is drawn through a graph and this determines whether it is a function or not. If the line and the graph touch once it is a function and if they touch more than once it is not a function.
