1. COHESION

   • It is the grammatical and lexical relationship between different elements of a text which hold it together
   • Linguistic features interpretation of language. Example: repetition, reference in context
   • Semantic relationships fewer formal linguistic between sentences and features within sentences

2. UNITY

   • Paragraph unity means that one paragraph is about only one main topic
   • All the topic, supporting, detail, concluding sentences tell the reader one main topic

3. COHERENCE

   • The ways a text makes sence to readers & writers though the relevance and accessibility of its configuration of concepts, ideas &theories
   • Interaction between the text, the reader and the writer
   • A property that a reader will discern in the text.
   • Allows the reader to make sense of the text
   • Refers to the semantic unity created between the ideas, sentences, paragraphs and sections of a piece of writing
