1. Real situations

   • FIRST
     • Applications
       • The first conditional is used to express future plans, threats, warnings, promises or to convince someone about something.
         • structure
           • If + present simple + will + infinitive Will + infinitive + if + present simple
             • EXAMPLE: If I try hard, I'll succeed.
   • ZERO
     • Applications
       • The zero conditional is used to express facts that are always true, such as scientific facts, scientific laws, general truths.
         • Structure
           • If + present simple,present simple If-clause main clause
             • EXAMPLE: If my dog sees the postman, he barks.

2. (Imaginary)unreal

   • SECOND
     • Applications
       • For situations in which the speaker considers that they are unlikely to happen in the future
         • structure
           • If+Past simple+would+simple form
             • EXAMPLE: If I had money, I would travel more.
   • THIRD
     • Applications
       • To refer to past situations that never happened and imagine what results they would have had.
         • structure
           • Past perfect+would have+3RD form
             • EXAMPLE: If you had helped me, I wouldn't have failed the exam.
