     • No assumption of a bell shaped curve of distributiion
       • Wider population is perhaps irrelevant
         • Test are designed for given specific population
           • A class in school
           • Chemestry group
           • A primary school year group
           • Small groups in general
   • Being tailored to a particular institutional department
     • Individual Circumstances
     • These can be used in very specific situations

2. Test are more powerful

   • Designed to represent wide population
     • Characteristic of a wider popolutaion
       • Having assumptions for a wide population
         • Sub-population with a whole population
           • Parameter of abilities are known
             • Tests have a true zero
               • stock-intrade of classroom teachers
           • Researcher uses statistics
         • Data on Sampling
           • Ratio levels of data
       • Piloted and standarized
     • Bell-shaped symmetry of the Gaussian curve of distribution
   • Continuous and equal intervals between the test scores
