1. Target

   • 8A. Develop further an open, rule based, predictable, non-discriminatory trading and financial system
   • 8B. Address the special needs of the least developed countries
   • 8C. Address the special needs of landlocked developing countries and small island developing states
   • 8D. Deal comprehensively with the debt problems of developing countries through national and international measures in order to make debt sustainable in the long term
   • 8F. In cooperation with the private sector, make available the benefits of new technologies, especially information and communications
   • 8E. in cooperation with pharmaceutical companies, provide access to affordable essential drugs in developing countries

3. Reasons

   • Being able to access modern technologies to therefore access knowledge which can improve their knowledge and skills and development
   • Increasing debts can have a detrimental affect on developing countries
   • Ensuring that trade is fair and viable for developing countries, providing a source of income and purpose for many people
   • Developing countries to access aid, education and health services

4. Aid Program

   • MDG Gap Task Foce
     • Created to improve and monitor global commitments contained in MDG 8.

5. Progress

   • Aid continues to focus on the poorest countries
   • 2/3 of internet users are in developing countries
   • Developing countries are gaining greater access to trade and markets of developed countries
