to the CIR if it is an instruction
- Stores the current instruction waiting
to be decoded and executed
- Program Counter
(PC)
- Holds the memory address
of the next instruction
- Contains the address of the
instructions being executed
at the current time
- Accumulator
(ACC)
- Stores the results of calculations
- All 1/0 goes through the accumulator
- A CPU register is a quickly
accessible location available to a
computer's CPU.
