Techniques for Testing

1. Test Harness

   • Allows testing to be automated, consists of software and test data which run code under different conditions, removes the need for programmer to do repetitive tasks.

2. Volume Testing

   • Designed to show how systems will work with different volumes of data. Establishes limits of software under large amounts of data.

3. Scalability Testing

   • Makes sure the system is able to cope with increases in workload.

4. Prototyping

   • Involves producing limited but working versions of the system at different stages of development.

5. Multi-platform Testing

   • Aims to demonstrate that the solution works on different softwares and hardwares.

6. Use of Simulated Environments

   • Not fesable to test the solution in every environment so simulated environments are used.
