             • New governing council and power was given back to the Emepror. Wanted to take the US back (but failed)

       • Failure in his attempts to modernize Japan and forced by US to sign Treaty of Kanagawa

2. Japan and the US

   • On July 8th, 1853, Commodore Perry arrived and threatened Japan in order to achieve International Commerce

3. Tokugawa Shogunate

   • 1600-1867
     • Keiki resinged in 1867 due to Satsuma, Chotsu and Tosa Clan's opossitions
